Qui si trovano due due tipologie di terreni, argillosabbiosi e sabbiosi-ciottolosi, e le viti sono allevate in parte a Guyot e in parte a Cordone Speronato. Tra le caratteristiche più interessanti del vigneto ci sono un’elevata presenza di magnesio, di cui si avvantaggia il Merlot in modo particolare. La ricchezza di minerali favorisce invece la produzione di vini potenti e ricchi di aromi, rotondi e armonici. “In un’annata molto asciutta come la 2021, il nostro intento è stato quello di aiutare i terreni con procedure molto mirate” commenta Franco Dal Colle, agronomo di Poggio al Tesoro. “In totale rispetto delle risorse idriche a nostra disposizione, abbiamo selezionato solo alcuni appezzamenti per attività di irrigazione sia a goccia, per i primi centimetri di terreno, sia per aspersione, per raffrescare il territorio al termine delle giornate più calde, consentendoci di portare in cantina uve turgide e sane”. L’armonia de Le Sondraie The harmony of Le Sondraie Il Seggio è il maggior corso d’acqua del Comune di Castagneto Carducci. Nasce dalle colline metallifere di Sassetta, zona conosciuta già al tempo degli Etruschi, estremamente ricca nel sottosuolo di giacimenti di minerali ferrosi. Attraversa l’intero territorio bolgherese e costeggia i nostri vigneti de Le Sondraie: qui i suoi detriti alluvionali arricchiscono, con preziosi ciottoli, i caratteristici terreni argillosi, garantendo così un ottimo drenaggio del suolo. Da questo corso d’acqua prende il nome il nostro Bolgheri Rosso, prodotto con le varietà tipiche, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc e Petit Verdot, raccolte e vinificate con cura per garantire spessore e concentrazione ma anche una grande freschezza e bevibilità. Un vino che, sin dal suo debutto con l’annata 2014, ha convinto pubblico e critica, aggiudicandosi, proprio in questo 2021, la medaglia d’oro di Mundus Vini e 93 punti da James Suckling. Measuring 50 hectares, Le Sondraie is the estate’s largest parcel. There are two types of soils here, clay-sandy and sandy-pebbly, and the vines are partly Guyot-trained and partly Spurred Cordon. Among the most interesting characteristics of the vineyard is the high presence of magnesium, which benefits Merlot in particular. The mineral-rich soil instead fosters the production of powerful wines that are rich in aromas, rounded and harmonious. “In a very dry vintage like 2021, our intent was to help the land by means of highly targeted practices”, comments Franco Dal Colle, the agronomist at Poggio al Tesoro. “With total respect for the water resources at our disposal, we selected only a few plots for irrigation, using both the drip method for the first few centimetres of soil, and sprinkling to cool the land at the end of the hottest days, allowing us to deliver turgid, healthy grapes to the winery”. Il Seggio is the largest watercourse in the Municipality of Castagneto Carducci. It springs from the metalliferous hills of Sassetta, an area already known during the Etruscan era, whose subsoil is extremely rich in iron ore deposits. It crosses the entire Bolgheri region and runs alongside our Le Sondraie vineyards: here the precious pebbles that are part of its alluvial debris enrich the characteristic clayey soils, thus ensuring excellent drainage of the soil. Our Bolgheri Rosso is named after this watercourse and is produced with the typical varieties Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, harvested and vinified with care to ensure depth and concentration but also great freshness and drinkability. Since its debut with vintage 2014, this wine has garnered acclaim from the public and critics alike, being awarded, in this 2021, the Mundus Vini gold medal and 93 points by James Suckling.
