Poggio al Tesoro Poggio al Tesoro Diario della Vendemmia / Harvest Diary / 2020 Diario della Vendemmia / Harvest Diary / 2020 2 3 Il 2020 sarà senza dubbio un anno che ricorderemo a lungo, ha cambiato radicalmente il modo di stare insieme tra persone, per cui anche Poggio al Tesoro, azienda fatta di persone (e che persone!) si è dovuta riorganizzare con nuovi regolamenti interni, che hanno permesso di svolgere con gli stessi standard qualitativi tutte le operazioni, sia in campagna che in cantina, in totale sicurezza. L’andamento stagionale a Bolgheri è stato abbastanza bilanciato, a parte qualche notte fredda a fine marzo dove la temperatura è scesa sotto lo zero, il resto della primavera è stata bella e soleggiata, qualche pioggia nei momenti giusti ha garantito un corretto andamento vegetativo con fioritura e allegagione omogenei. Il mese di giugno ha visto davvero poche giornate di pioggia, salvo alcune precipitazioni durante la prima settimana che hanno evitato alle viti lo stress idrico, da scongiurare in questa fase di maturazione. Verso fine agosto le temperature estive hanno iniziato gradualmente ad abbassarsi a seguito di alcune precipitazioni che hanno reso possibile il proseguimento della vendemmia. Settembre soleggiato, caldo con ampie escursioni termiche, tipiche della zona, ci ha accompagnato per il resto della vendemmia. 2020 is undoubtedly a year we will remember for a very long time. It has radically changed the way people spend time together, and so also Poggio al Tesoro, a company made up of people (and what amazing people!) has had to reorganize, with new internal regulations that have enabled all its operations to be carried out at the same standards of quality, both in the countryside and in the winery, in completely safe conditions. The seasonal development of the vintage in Bolgheri was quite well-balanced, apart from a few cold nights at the end of March when the temperature dropped below zero. The rest of spring was beautiful and sunny with some rain at the right times, thereby guaranteeing correct vegetative development with uniform flowering and fruit set. The month of June saw very few rainy days, except for some rainfall during the first week which protected the vines from drought stress, something that must be avoided during the ripening phase. Towards the end of August, the summer temperatures gradually began to drop following some rainfall, making it possible to continue the harvest. A sunny, warm September with marked differences in day- and night-time temperatures – typical of the area – accompanied us for the rest of the harvest. IL COMMENTO DELL’ENOLOGO La 2020... una bella annata: bianchi di ottima freschezza e sapidità, corposi con ottima persistenza, rosati fragranti e rossi di buona struttura, ricchi di tannini eleganti. 2020... a fine vintage: whites with excellent freshness and flavour, full-bodied and with excellent persistence, fragrant rosés and reds with substantial structure, rich in elegant tannins. COMMENT BY THE WINEMAKER LORENZO FORTINI Enologo | Winemaker A fine fermentazione possiamo considerare la 2020 una bella annata, con bianchi di grande freschezza e sapidità ma allo stesso tempo corposi e con ottima persistenza, rosati fragranti e profumati e rossi di buona struttura, ricchi di tannini eleganti. Particolarmente strutturati i Merlot e i Cabernet dei vigneti SOPRASTRADA, quelli che si inerpicano verso la collina di Bolgheri, vocati ad una produzione di altissima qualità. Now we have reached the end of fermentation, we can consider 2020 a very fine vintage, whites with excellent freshness and flavour, full-bodied and with excellent persistence, fragrant rosés and reds with substantial structure, rich in elegant tannins. The Merlots and Cabernets from the SOPRASTRADA vineyards, those that extend up towards the hill of Bolgheri, are highly structured and suited to produce particularly high quality wines.
